53The new General Motors
With automotive sales reaching all time lows and an industry that is looking at 10 million sales in 2009, down from a high of 16 plus million, the face of the new GM is going to flourish. Even in bankruptcy, stocks are rising over the last couple of weeks. As a subject matter expert on the industry, Chevrolet seems positioned to make a significant impact in the very near future. The current line of products is sure to impress even the biggest critics of American car markets, that being Southern California, commonly referred to as the Import mecca of the world.
The latest products to come out of Detroit are the all new Chevy Traverse; An SUV that is smaller than Tahoe, but with more interior space and a fit and finish that rivals anything the Europeans can make. There is also the all new Malibu, which was introduced in late 2007 as a 2008 model. This North American car of the year was tested against the two major competitors, Camry and Accord, with surprising results. after numerous consumer forums and driving events all over the Country, Malibu emerged as an outright winner. These are two amazing products already on the shelf and GM is making huge efforts to get consumers into these products. One thing I can assure you of is that once you drive one, you will want to own one.
The Chevy Tahoe continues to be the best selling SUV in North America, but there are also the Silverado, which was completely redesigned in 2007 and was Motor Trends truck of the year and winner of over twenty seven....YES 27 awards from journalist all over the world! Even with vehicles that are World class, the public continues to have a fear of buying American. My advice? Give us a chance. These products more than rival anything the japanes can throw at us, not to mention that Toyota for example has had more recalls and certainly had their fair share of woes with their tundra over the years. The all new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has finally been arriving at the dealers and what an amazing car! over the course of the last four weeks. Prior to when Camaro first showed, the sales traffic coming onto the lot at Jimmie Johnson's Kearny Mesa Chevrolet was virtually at a standstill, but since the arrival of the new Camaro, consumers have been coming in at levels not seen since the early part of the new milllenium. Three out of four consumers were coming in to not only see, but place orders. hopefully, General motors will ramp up production for this car, which is destined to become a classic of a modern era.
watch the video below for Motor Trends initial road test at GM's proving ground in Milford. You can also test drive the new Camaro at jimmie Johnson chevrolet in Kearny Mesa, one of a very few dealers that has kept one in inventory to "show and tell". We'll keep you updated on the progress of this vehicle.
Oh and lets not forget that GM has more 'Green' vehicles than any other manufacturer, period! From fuel cell technology, to the new Volt all electric and the worlds first two mode hybrid technology. More to follow.
